Former NFL Player Matt Forte Switches Brokers on Chicago Listing
Former Chicago Bears running back Matt Forte has switched top brokers on the listing of his River North mansion, replacing Compass’ Jeff Lowe with Emily Sachs Wong of @properties Christie’s International Real Estate.
The 10,000-square-foot home in Kingsbury Estates was listed last summer by Lowe with a price tag of $4.75 million, or $475 per square foot, according to public listing information.
The listing was removed in November of last year before being relisted at the same price earlier this month with Sachs Wong as the agent.
Sachs Wong posted a video to her LinkedIn Thursday promoting the property. In the video, she and Forte can be seen passing a football back and forth as they move around the five-bed, seven-bath home.
The broker teams of Lowe and Sachs Wong both ranked among the top five in The Real Deal’s annual list of Chicago’s top brokers last year, with the Lowe Group coming in first, and ESW Chicago taking fourth.
Neither Lowe nor Sachs Wong responded to requests for comment from The Real Deal Friday.
Forte, a two-time Pro Bowl running back who played with Chicago’s NFL team from 2008 to 2015, bought the four-story home in Kingsbury Estates back in 2014 for just over $4 million. The ex-Bear has invested in the property since then, putting in an indoor pool and building out an addition to the home, which sits on an extra-wide corner lot.
Kingsbury Estates sits at the Northwest corner of the River North neighborhood in an area that used to be covered with parking lots for the Montgomery Ward headquarters. It is now home to many mansions built in the early 2000s.
Forte was not the first current or former Chicago pro athlete to make a deal in the neighborhood over the years. Former Bulls player Jimmy Butler sold a 10,000-square-foot house on Huron Street for $4.2 million in 2017, which was $100,000 less than he paid for it two years previously.
