Oklahoma alumnus Yul Moldauer claimed second in the individual all-around at Friday’s Pan American Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The former Sooner won event titles on floor exercise, pommel horse and parallel bars while leading the United States to first place.
Moldauer scored a 81.767 in the all-around, taking second to Brazil’s Caio Souza (83.033). He finished first on floor (14.367), pommel horse (13.200) and parallel bars (14.900) and earned a 13.900 on vault and a 13.467 on still rings.
Current Sooner Cesar Gracia represented Mexico and former Sooner Michael Reid competed for Jamaica at the Championships.
Gracia tied for tenth on pommel horse with a 12.267 and earned eleventh on high bar with a 12.867. Mexico ended the night in fifth with a team score of 230.001 and advanced to the team finals on Sunday.
Reid earned fourteenth on parallel bars with a 13.267.
Team USA finished in first place with a team score of 250.035 and advanced to the team finals to be held Sunday at 2 p.m. CT. They also secured a men’s team spot for the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships, set for October 29 through November 6 in Liverpool, England.
