Filmmaker, writer and composer Vishal Bhardwaj is celebrating the success of 12th Fail as a hopeful sign for smaller films, at a time when predicting what works in theaters feels like guesswork. The Kaminey helmer described the success of the film starring Vikrant Massey, ‘like a silver lining’ for independent films.

He reminisced about the bygone era where securing funding for independent films, like his acclaimed Shakespeare adaptations — Maqbool, Omkara, Haider and other hits like Dev D and Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, was much easier.
