A former hunting and outdoor equipment production site in western Mississippi will be reborn as an energy company hub. Entergy Mississippi announced its purchase of a former Primos manufacturing facility in Flora. The company plans to relocate 44 employees to the 102,700-square-foot site as part of a $30 million investment.

The Clarion-Ledger reports construction will begin soon, and operations will start by June next year. The facility will allow for 39 full-time employees and five contract employees. An additional 37 contracted employees will work remotely and use the Flora site as a home base.

Entergy Mississippi said the building would combine three of its existing facilities, which include substation operations, the transmission line department, and the central Mississippi substation maintenance department.

“We’re happy to have found a building that will consolidate three facilities and employees into one location,” Entergy Mississippi President and CEO Haley Fisackerly said. “It’s been a very positive experience to bring this project to fruition. We are looking forward to being a part of this community.”

Entergy Mississippi also bought some 25 acres of land in the Flora Industrial Park from the Madison County Economic Development Authority (MCEDA) and intends to use the space for material storage.

Entergy and MCEDA are also working on including a road extension to the facility.
