Google announces substantial investment in Mass. facilities

One of the largest companies in the world is making a large investment in the Massachusetts tech hub.Google announced plans to invest $75 million in 2022 in its Massachusetts offices on Wednesday. This is part of an overall investment of $9.5 billion nationwide.Google plans to open its new “3 Cambridge Center” office at 325 Main Street in Cambridge which is expected to be completed later this year. During the announcement event, Assistant Speaker Rep. Katherine Clark said, “This latest investment is yet another indication that Google is dedicated to the small businesses and people who call Massachusetts home.”Google announced that they expect to create 12,000 new jobs nationwide as part of the investment.“It might seem counterintuitive to step up our investment in physical offices even as we embrace more flexibility in how we work. Yet we believe it’s more important than ever to invest in our campuses and that doing so will make for better products, a greater quality of life for our employees, and stronger communities.” as stated in the press release.
