LPL names new chief investment officer

LPL Financial has named director of research Marc Zabicki the firm’s newest chief investment officer.
Zabicki joined the firm in late 2020 from Bower Hill Capital Management and had been director of research for nearly two years for the broker-dealer. He takes over for Burt White, who retired in March after 15 years at the firm to join $20bn RIA Carson Group as chief strategy officer.
‘I’m thrilled to assume the role of chief investment officer while also paying tribute to my fellow team members who have guided our advisors through the financial investing landscape,’ Zabicki said in a statement. ‘Together we work to optimize their ability to respond to ever fluctuating adjustments taking place in the market. We will continue to concentrate on our shared strategic priorities so advisors can make the best decisions for their clients and their businesses.’
Zabicki (pictured above) also previously worked as a senior market strategist and ETF portfolio manager at Ameriprise Financial Services and as a senior market strategist at H&R Block Financial Advisors. He started his career in 1992 as a fixed income portfolio analyst at Salomon Brothers, according to his LinkedIn.
LPL’s research team also now features Quincy Krosby as chief global strategist, a title she previously held at Prudential Financial. She previously worked at Deutsche Bank, Credit Suisse and Barings.
Jeff Buchbinder has been promoted from equity strategist to chief equity strategist. He previously worked at AllianceBernstein and Deutsche Bank.
LPL Research also includes Jason Hoody, head of manager research and sustainable investing, who leads LPL’s roughly ’s 28-person research team, which has discretion over about $70bn. The team also features chief economist Jeffrey Roach, fixed income strategist Lawrence Gillum, asset allocation strategist Barry Gilbert, portfolio strategist George Smith and quantitative equity analyst Thomas Shipp.
LPL in April announced that it hired Kabir Sethi from Merrill Lynch to serve as its chief product officer.
LPL’s network includes more than 20,000 financial advisors and about 500 independent RIA companies.
