GASTON COUNTY, N.C. — Newell Brands has signed a lease at the Gateway85 Business Park in Gaston County in what will total an investment of $135 million.
Newell will occupy a 1.5 million-square-foot warehouse and product distribution center for the company’s businesses that include brands such as Rubbermaid®, Mr. Coffee®, Oster®, Calphalon® and Sunbeam®. Newell is making the large investment with NorthPoint Development.
“Newell Brands is looking forward to joining the Gaston County community and we look forward to the opening of our new facility in spring 2023,” said Andrew Maze, Vice President, Distribution & Transportation at Newell Brands.
Chad Brown, a chairman on the Gaston County Board of Commissioners, is excited for the arrival of Newell.
“This is a significant investment for Gaston County, the city of Lowell and the city of Gastonia. We are pleased to welcome a fortune 500 company to Gaston County,” Brown said “We welcome Newell Brands and are proud they have chosen Gaston County as the location of choice for their investment.”
Newell is a Fortune 500 company, one Lowell Mayor Sandy Railey said will welcome with open arms.
“I am proud to welcome Newell Brands to the City of Lowell,” said Railey. “This investment in our city is a great asset to the community and our tax base. I have preached the need for a diversified tax base in Lowell, and with the departure of the textile industry, this is a much-needed relief to our City because it provides the support of shouldering the tax burden from our citizens, onto our corporate partners.”
Newell first announced their intentions to build in Gaston County back in August 2021.
