Nancy Silver, age 96, of St. Louis, MO, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2022. Born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, Nancy lived in New York City until 1964 when she moved to Allendale, NJ. After retiring in 2001, she moved to St. Louis, MO in 2002. Nancy was a proud graduate of Marywood University in Scranton, PA (Class of 1948) and faithfully attended reunions through 2019. Before having her children, Nancy s thierr old Childcraft books door-to-door, taught high-school English and art in New Jersey and, later, was a graphic designer for various publications in New York City. After her children were grown, Nancy managed the Print Magazine office in New York City.
Nancy was the beloved wife of the late David Silver (2001). She was the loving mother/mother-in-law of Mark Silver and his wife Erica Uppstrom of St. Louis, MO, Linda Silver and her husband Thomas Goss of St. Louis, MO, Tricia Silver-Riskin and her husband Jeffrey of Berea, OH, Timothy Silver of Ramsey, NJ, the late Michael Silver (2005) and the late John Silver (1994). She was the beloved grandmother of Emma and Jeremy Silver, Caoilinn and Adam Goss, Madeleine, Shayne and Ethan Silver-Riskin, Timothy and Aidan Finch and Lillian Silver. Nancy was the dear great-grandmother of Jace Newton and Penelope and Josephine Finch. She was predeceased by her sister Patricia Burke.
The family will gather on Saturday, May 21, 2022 from 10:15-11:15am at the Browning-Forshay Funeral Home, 557 Lafayette Ave., Hawthorne. A graveside service will be held at 12pm at St. Luke’s Cemetery in Hohokus. The family would welcome everyone at a memorial celebration which will be held in late summer or early fall.
