Conneaut seeks broker for Conneaut Valley Middle School | News

A spacious building with a rich history located just north of the borough of Conneautville will likely be on the market by the time school starts in the fall.

Conneaut School District is seeking proposals for real estate broker services to handle the sale of Conneaut Valley Middle School, 22154 Route 18, Conneautville.

Proposals will be accepted until 3 p.m. May 31, according to a legal advertisement published in The Meadville Tribune.

Superintendent Jarrin Sperry said the building would likely be on the market by late summer, depending on the schedule of the brokerage selected by the board.

“I would think by August at the latest,” Sperry said.

A vote on the proposals could come as early as Conneaut School Board’s June 12 meeting.

Listing the middle school building will only be part of what looks to be a busy summer for the district as preparations are finalized for moving all sixth, seventh and eighth graders to Conneaut Valley Middle School, which is being rechristened as Conneaut Area Middle School. In addition, fifth-grade classes currently located at the district’s two middle schools will be relocated to the two elementary schools.

After adding a special voting meeting that was held before the board’s monthly work session last week, the board tabled discussion and postponed its vote on bids for summer renovation work planned in anticipation of the reconfiguration, according to Sperry. Board members requested more information and would likely return to the topic at their May 1 meeting, he added.

The board meets today at 7 p.m. for its monthly voting meeting in the Alice Schafer Annex gymnasium, 219 W. School Drive, Linesville.
