The American Dream’s Selling New Mexico, along with Jessica Hoffer and Lance Eaton of EXIT Realty Advantage NM, shines the spotlight on Los Alamos.

American Dream TV – Selling New Mexico is a nationally syndicated program will air on CNBC, Bloomberg TV, and the Travel Channel. Its 30-minute commercial-free episodes can also be viewed on Amazon Fire, Apple TV and Roku. The show focuses on the local real estate market and highlights different areas of the Los Alamos community.

Los Alamos isn’t the only town involved in the show, but Hoffer said she and Eaton will host every other month. The first episode aired Feb. 17. Eaton’s first episode will air in March and features Pajarito Mountain and the history of skiing in Los Alamos.

Things started off with a bang; Hoffer said they filmed at the Oppenheimer House and interviewed Cherie Trottier, chair of the Oppenheimer House Renovation Committee.

“It’s all about lifestyle and culture of certain areas,” Hoffer said.

She added that the show is 80 percent culture and lifestyle, and 20 percent is real estate.

Besides Los Alamos, other cities featured in the show include Santa Fe and Albuquerque.

Hoffer said she became involved in the project after receiving a call from a casting recruiter. She googled the company and thought it sounded interesting.  She explained her name came up through either an online poll or a personal referral from a business.

Additionally, she said she recommended Eaton to partner with her on the project since they work so similarly.

The Oppenheimer House was featured first but other areas in the town that will be filmed include Pajarito Mountain and Hoffer said she would like to take the film crew to the Los Alamos Nature Center and the ice rink.

As far as real estate, Hoffer said she showcased a property she has listed on Barranca Mesa.

Hoffer said she is excited to be part of the project and open people’s eyes to everything Los Alamos has to offer. The ‘Oppenheimer’ movie upped Los Alamos’ popularity but it revealed a completely different landscape to what is here, said. She enjoys providing a more realistic picture of the town.

“It’s just such a unique place,” Hoffer said. “I don’t think it is what people guess it would be, so I like to open people’s eyes to what it is.”

“People don’t have any idea how beautiful the mountains are here and how lovely the people are,” she added.

Eaton agreed; adding the show is an opportunity to learn things about the town.

“I think the best part of is we get to highlight things in Los Alamos that people might not already know,” he said.

For Hoffer personally, being in front of the camera has also been an eye-opening experience.

“For me it is really pushing myself out of my comfort zone,” she said, adding that she has learned things about Los Alamos that she didn’t know before.

Eaton said not does the show introduce Los Alamos to those who are unfamiliar with it but he himself has met new people and learned new things about the town. For instance, during his segment on Pajarito Mountain he was introduced to the new manager of the ski area.

“It allows me to get out and meet new people and share the bright spots of Los Alamos,” Eaton said.

This is impressive since Hoffer has lived here for her whole life. She has been a Realtor since 2017.

Being a broker runs her family. Hoffer said she grew up with “for sale” signs and real estate offices.

“I’ve been around it my whole life,” she said. “My mom was a Realtor in Los Alamos for 36 years. I just really love the idea of being a helping hand in a big moment in people’s lives.”

Buying a home is stressful, but she said she appreciates being able to facilitate a good experience for her clients.

Outside of work, Hoffer keeps busy with her three sons.

When asked what her children think about the show, Hoffer said, “They have all different perspectives. My youngest thinks it is awesome, and I am going to be famous … but I think everybody thinks it is exciting and going to be a great experience.”

Eaton opened EXIT Realty Advantage NM in 2017. He obtained his real estate license in 2016.

Hoffer and Eaton are open to ideas on where and what to showcase in Los Alamos. They invite the community to text them at 505.660.5611 for Hoffer or 505.695.0442 for Eaton.

Eaton encourages  people to think about newcomers and what they should know about the town.

“That is the kind of thing I would like to showcase,” he said.
