Pune road rage: Real estate broker attacked for honking at car being driven rashly | Pune News
In yet another incident of road rage which has come to light, three unidentified men attacked a real estate broker driving a four-wheeler for blowing his car horn. The police said the man was badly injured in the incident which took place on the Kharadi-Mundhwa bypass road in Pune on January 1.
The incident took place around 3.40 am. Amit Jaybhay, 29, a real estate broker and a resident of Magarpatta city in Hadapsar, lodged the first information report (FIR) in this case at the Chandan Nagar police station on January 4.
In a statement issued on Friday, the police said Jaybhay had gone for a ride along with his friend Pratik Borkar on New Year. “They went from Koregaon Park to Kalyani Nagar and further while heading towards the Kharadi bypass junction via Lohegaon Road, they saw a car rash driving. Two youngsters, who were in the car in front of their vehicle, were also shouting with their heads stuck out of the windows,” the police said in the statement.
They added, “When Jaybhay honked at the car a few times, the youngsters got enraged. Subsequently, a fight broke out and the accused allegedly thrashed Jaybhay.”
The police said Jaybhay suffered severe injuries in the incident. He was rushed to a hospital for treatment and after recovering, he approached the police and lodged an FIR against the three unidentified men, the police said.
Police Sub-Inspector Tanaji Shegare, who is also the investigation officer, said, “A probe is on to identify and arrest the three accused who attacked Jaybhay. While the victim is now stable, the accused broke a few of his teeth during the assault. His friend Borkar was sleeping in the car when the incident took place. The assailants did not attack Borkar.”
The police have booked the accused persons under Sections 325 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt), 504 (intentional insult), 506 (criminal intimidation), 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
