A.G. Cook shares new song ‘Silver Thread Golden Needle’

If A.G. Cook is starting the new year as he means to go on. 2024 will be one of innovative, upbeat and genre-bending music, as he has just released a brand new ten-minute long track entitled ‘Silver Thread Golden Needle’.
The song is a glitchy hyperpop track that is as ambitious as it is long. Chopped-up vocals, persistent noise and math-like glitchiness make up the song, which comes together in an operatic style, diving from undertones of happiness to sadness, anger to joy, and active to passive, in what is a real trip by anyone’s standards.
‘Silver Thread Golden Needle’ represents much of the work that A.G. Cook has done over the years. As the founder of PC Music, he has been responsible for various pieces of work, both experimental and conventional in their sound.
Last year was exciting as Cook teamed up with Easyfun for a new project called Thy Slaughter. The pairing released their debut album, Soft Rock, to the acclaim of both fans and critics.
A.G. Cook has a plethora of artists ready to work with him; on the Soft Rock album alone, he had contributions from the likes of Caroline Polachek, Ellie Rowsell from Wolf Alice, Alaska Reid, Charlie XCX and the late Sophie. With such a variety of artists available, it’s no surprise such an unpredictable and fun sound can be achieved.
‘Silver Thread Golden Needle’ also marks the beginning of the end of an era for A.G. Cook, as he has announced that 2023 was the final year of new releases from PC Music. Moving forward, the work will consist of archival projects and special reissues.
