DWS Strengthens Fixed Income Investment Platform with the Addition of Industry Veteran, Stephen Cianci

 

New York, NY – February 27, 2024 – DWS today announced the hiring of Stephen (Steve) Cianci, CFA, to its U.S. fixed income team.  

With more than three decades of Fixed Income multi-sector portfolio management experience, Steve will join DWS as a Senior Portfolio Manager focused on the firm’s institutional investors, including management of the insurance company general account and other complex balance sheet assets.  

He will be based in the New York office and report to Shilpa Lakhani, Head of Portfolio Management Fixed Income Solutions. Ms. Lakhani remarked “Steve’s addition builds on the firm’s strong heritage of developing comprehensive solutions for insurance companies. He brings decades of investment experience and perspective, having managed through multiple cycles and challenging market conditions.” She continued, “he will add depth to the portfolio management team, and the opportunity to add an investor with his skill set will be a true value-add for our clients.”  

Steve joins DWS from MacKay Shields, where he has worked since 2018. Prior to that, he was with Aberdeen for seven years, where his responsibilities included Head of US Core Plus and Opportunistic Fixed Income on the North American Fixed Income team.  Before joining Aberdeen, Steve worked as Co-Head of Core and Core Plus Fixed Income strategies, Lead Portfolio Manager for Short Duration products, and the Head of Structured Products at Logan Circle Partners. Previously, he held similar roles as a Senior Vice President and Senior Portfolio Manager at Delaware Investments.  He is an adjunct finance professor and a Business Advisory Council member at Widener University. Steve graduated with an MBA and BA from Widener University and is a CFA charter-holder.
