The First Omen revitalized a long-dormant film franchise in style by taking things back to (before) the beginning. Sidestepping 2006’s The Omen reboot, The First Omen is a prequel to Richard Donner’s 1976 original film and details the birth of The Omen’s Damien. The prequel film was directed by Arkasha Stevenson (Legion) and written by Stevenson, Tim Smith, and Keith Thomas.

Screen Rant is happy to present a look at one of the bonus featurettes included with the home release version of The First Omen. Screen Rant’s The First Omen review was a glowing endorsement of Stevenson’s visual storytelling ability and the film’s strong cast, and the featurette clip dives into some of the intention behind those aspects of the film. Take a look and get ready to watch The First Omen at home when it becomes available to buy on digital platforms on May 28. The movie will then hit Hulu on May 30, and will arrive on Blu-ray and DVD on July 30.

A Look Into The First Omen’s Bonus Features

The clip above offers a sneak peek at one of The First Omen’s featurettes, which is titled “The Director’s Vision”. As seen in the clip, the featurette sees Arkasha Stevenson detail her own connection to the horror genre and her attention to detail. It also has key film cast members discuss their takeaways from working with the up-and-coming director. It’s a detailed look at the thought process behind the best-ranked Omen sequel.

Another featurette that comes with the home release of The First Omen is “The Mystery of Margaret”, exploring the character at the heart of the prequel film. This bonus featurette sees Margaret actor Nell Tiger Free discuss the journey of her character, who finds herself manipulated as she attempts to solve the movie’s main mystery. “The Mystery of Margaret” also boasts interviews with Stevenson and stars Bill Nighy and Maria Caballero.

The third bonus featurette included in the home release of The First Omen is “Signs of The First Omen”, a deep dive into the movie’s use of symbolism through set design and costumes. Stevenson is joined by the movie’s art department in explaining the amount of care that went into creating the look of the film. Given the love of religious horror that Stevenson admitted when discussing a potential The First Omen sequel, it makes sense that the director would take special care to ensure the movie’s world is layered and rich.
