Thunderbolts Star Shares Exciting Update on Marvel Movie

Some good news has been revealed for the upcoming film Thunderbolts.



Following multiple release date changes, Thunderbolts has officially gotten back on the rails with the upcoming Marvel movie now in production. One of the stars of the movie, Florence Pugh, shared the exciting update on the project while speaking with Entertainment Tonight to promote Dune: Part Two. She confirmed that she “just started” filming on Thunderbolts, revealing how the Marvel movie is back on track after its multiple delays and casting changes.

“I feel so — I mean — honored that I’ve been able to basically do the most bizarre press tour for both movies [Dune: Part Two and Oppenheimer] at the same time and I’ve just started my next movie,” Pugh said, referring to Thunderbolts. “But I managed to squeeze this one in, so I feel very grateful that I’ve managed to juggle all of them at the same time.”


Thunderbolts Was Moved Up on the Release Calendar

The project appeared to be in good shape as it was recently revealed that Thunderbolts would be releasing sooner than expected. It was set for a July 2025 release before being moved up to May 2, 2025. It was previously set for a December 2024 release before undergoing further release date changes. The movie serves as the final installment of the MCU’s Phase Five, following the July 2024 release of Deadpool & Wolverine and the February 2025 release of Captain America: Brave New World.

Florence Pugh reprises her Black Widow role as Yelena Belova in Thunderbolts. Other starring members of the ensemble cast include Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes, Hannah John-Kamen as Ghost, Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Ola Kurylenko as Taskmaster, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine. Lewis Pullman has also been reportedly attached to play Sentry, taking over the role from Steven Yeun. Geraldine Viswanathan has also replaced Ayo Edebiri in a mystery role.


“Who knows what goes on behind the scenes, but I’ve always wanted to join the universe in whatever capacity, and this just came up. There’s a lot of … It was destiny,” Viswanathan said of her casting in a recent interview with ComicBook.com. “Destiny called me on the phone and I picked up and I said, ‘I’ll be there.’ Very excited.”

Thunderbolts will be released in movie theaters on May 2, 2025. Meanwhile, Florence Pugh can be seen in Dune: Part Two when the film premieres on March 1, 2024.
