Kentucky prosecutor accused of trading favors for meth, sex

An elected prosecutor in eastern Kentucky accused of requesting sex and methamphetamine from individuals facing criminal charges has resigned from office, his lawyer said Monday.

Scott Blair, 51, was arrested late last week and charged with one count of honest services wire fraud, federal prosecutors said Friday, meaning he deprived county residents of his honest services.

The now-former attorney for Perry County is accused of using his authority and his position of public trust “to assist various individuals who were facing criminal charges in Perry County,” according to the criminal complaint.

Officials say Blair would communicate with defendants over Facebook Messenger and offer to help them in exchange for taking actions in his official capacity to help those individuals, Mountain Top Media reported.

According to the affidavit, there were “numerous instances in which Blair requested something of value, including sexual favors and methamphetamine, from multiple individuals” in exchange for favors.

The alleged communications occurred between April 2020 and March 2024. One of the alleged victims told investigators he was given probation in exchange for sexual favors. However, once he began refusing Blair’s demands, he was sent back to jail, according to Mountain Top Media.

Blair was arrested on Friday and taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center. local television station WYMT reported.

Blair’s attorney, Ned Pillersdorf, confirmed his resignation but declined to comment on the charge.

Blair has waived his right to a preliminary hearing and will remain behind bars. If convicted, he can be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison.
