High-profile luxury real estate brokerage opens in Reno

A new worldwide luxury real estate company just moved to Reno, and it’s likely bringing some high-priced clients to northern Nevada.

The Agency’s latest franchise is located at First and Sierra Streets in downtown Reno. The company has 100 offices around the world in 12 countries. Their agents boast that they’ve closed more than $72 billion dollars in transactions since 2011. Their clients are movie stars, big name musicians and millionaires.

The Founder, Mauricio Umansky, stuck television gold with TV shows such asThe Real Housewives of Beverly Hills”, “Million Dollar Listing” and “Buying Beverly Hills”. Umansky was also on Dancing with the Stars.

“He’s everywhere,” said AJ Palomar. “Obviously our CEO is a huge draw for people.”

The Reno office is the third in Nevada. The Agency office in Las Vegas opened in October 2021 and The Agency opened in Henderson in September 2023.

Palomar said brokers will not just focus on the high-priced homes in Somersett, Lake Tahoe and Montreux.

“No, that is obviously a big draw for us but I’ve got a few listings coming up that are just average listings that a person just starting out would want,” he said.

So, why Reno? Lake Tahoe is a draw for big buyers, but The Agency also said the strong tax incentives and lifestyle make it an ideal location.

“Tahoe is a huge draw for everybody,” said Palomar. “So for us to be here and to represent the brand and showcase northern Nevada, it’s just a natural synergy for us.”

Palomar is sensitive to people who may be concerned that The Agency may bring big buyers to town who could out-price Reno area residents. He’s been a Reno resident for twenty years and feels he’s a steward of northern Nevada.

“Don’t be worried, we’re here to help everybody. We want to help the locals as well as we want to be able to facilitate transactions for those who are already moving here,” Palomar said.

In response to the big real estate company coming to down, he said it’s Reno’s time to shine and showcase our changing, evolving and growing area.
