Tell us a little about your family and one activity you enjoy together

I have two children. My daughter, Tionna, who’s currently in college, will soon be entering the military as an officer. My son, Tariq, is extremely talented on the drums and will be attending college next semester. As a family, we truly enjoy going to theme parks as often as possible. It’s a full day where we all can be big kids without the outside worries.

Please give us details about your career journey and how you ended with this current position.

I’m the Broker in charge of The Real Estate Concierge, currently serving Fayetteville and surrounding areas and expanding to the triangle. I started in this industry 5 years ago when I first bought my home. It had never crossed my mind to become a Realtor until my agent told me I’d be great at it due to my previous background in retail management. But, the entire home purchasing process is what gave me my final push to go to real estate school. I realized my community didn’t have the knowledge and the steps needed in home buying, and I wanted to be able to give people more understanding so that they, too, could become homeowners. These past few years, real estate has had its challenges, from interest rates to not having enough homes on the market. But I have been able to prevail through it all and help more families each year. The ability to spread what I’ve learned not only to clients but also to my agents has helped me become the managing broker.

When clients come to see you, what is the main goal you want them to achieve?

Joy. Most clients come excited but a bit overwhelmed. My goal is to ensure they have a stress-free and smooth experience by providing all services to them so that they can focus on the move and I can take care of everything else. I provide a list of experienced lenders to contractors that I have worked closely with, and all have the same goal in mind: to make sure the client is happy. Home buying should be a joyful experience as you can finally call a place your own. That’s my goal: to make sure every client has an amazing experience as they begin a new chapter in their lives.

What techniques do you use to relieve stress when things get hectic, balancing motherhood and a career?

I read inspirational books. This helps me to regain my focus and reminds me that success doesn’t always come easy but will come with consistency. I also write out my goals so that I can practice time management and prioritization.

What single piece of wisdom would you pass on to someone just starting their motherhood journey?

Everything is constantly changing and everything is just a phase. From a crying baby to them going off to college, just know that today’s struggles will get easier. However, when it seems like nothing is changing, remind yourself that this phase will be over and a new journey will begin.

What are you passionate about outside of work and family (What are some things you enjoy doing for fun)?

I enjoy traveling. This gives me time to explore different parts of the world and the beauty in it. Since I’m a huge foodie, I love tasting what different cultures find as comfort food.

How would you like to be remembered when it’s all said and done?

I want to be remembered as being authentic. Staying true to my values and how I impacted my children’s lives.

What is one book, podcast, article, social media account, blog or other resource you can recommend for moms?

“Lean in: Women, Work and the Will to Lead” by Sherly Sandberg. It offers insightful advice and strategies for juggling work and family life challenges.
