Rural investments across North Carolina
The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority approved 31 grant requests around the state, which include Catawba, Gaston and Anson counties.
RALEIGH, N.C. — The North Carolina Rural Infrastructure Authority (RIA) has approved over $10 million in grant funding for over 30 projects across North Carolina, Governor Roy Cooper announced on Friday.
Cooper said in the announcement that the grants will bring over 400 new jobs and attract over $200 million in investment in rural areas across the state. Gaston, Catawba and Anson counties are among those receiving funding as part of the initiative.
The money will go towards developing and renovating businesses.

The City of Hickory will receive a $240,000 grant that will be used to renovate a vacant 35,000-square-foot building.
Steel Warehouse Co, a steel service center will be the building’s new occupant. The company plans on creating 58 jobs.
In Gaston County, two existing businesses will receive grant money for expansions. IFAB Corporation, a metal fabricator in Gastonia, is set to receive $500,000 for a 41,000-square-foot expansion will the additional goal of creating 190 jobs. Repi, LLC, a manufacturer in Dallas, will receive $250,000 towards an 85,000-square-foot expansion of an existing building. The company also hopes to create 25 jobs.
Wadesboro, a town in Anson County, is set to receive a $223,075 grant to finish improvements to the Wadesboro Industrial Park.
The cities of Morganton, Lenoir and Newton will receive grant funding for public infrastructure.
